The profession of security guards without discussion is one of the most important in the security area, since they are the visible face of the sector.
Is it just the salary earned by a public safety professional?
The current conditions of the sector are very precarious, due to public competitions and the current labor reform..
Important data of the security sector
On average, there are more than 78,000 security guardian hiring per year, of which the average age is 42 years and 17% of the total hiring comes from the public sector, where the main problem lies.
There are critical cases in which the Ministry of Defense or Employment, pays about 700 € of salary for the work of security guard, a real shame if you analyze the agreements awarded by companies that reduce bonuses to be elected.
That is why the unions are united in this fight to be able to modify the labor reform in these cases of contracting of the public sector and respect the negotiations that the Law of Public Procurement has by right.
The rule approved by the Government in February 2012 changed the rules of collective bargaining: since then, the company agreement prevails over any other. Conflicts like that of the chambermaids or security guards are the concretion of that abstract precept. Some companies sign their own agreements, often with union representation created ad hoc, which throw away wages and conditions signed in sectoral and state agreements.
Similar situation occurs in the public sector but to a lesser extent, since unfortunately we always want to choose the cheapest offer and leave the quality of service aside. But the trend tells us otherwise…
The unions have already raised their voices and the Government, especially from the Ministry of Development, is willing to resolve the situation so that quality prevails over the price, and above all workers are guaranteed working conditions according to what do you need.
A private security guard can obtain between $ 900 and 4$ 1500 as average salary, everything will depend on the company where he works, but it is estimated that the salary will suffer an increase in the coming years and will need new generations of professional workers who can perform a quality service with the knowledge required by the sector.
There is a state collective agreement for private security, with its corresponding salary tables, which details the base salary plus transportation, clothing, dangerousness and activity bonuses, as well as the seniority and nighttime bonuses.
